Ginger and Lemongrass is a Vietnamese restaurant located in Whitestone, Queens, New York. The first of it's kind in the general location, Ginger and Lemongrass has quickly become a top lunch and dinner spot for the diverse locals in Whitestone, and was even covered by such local media outlets as ABC News and the New York Times within it's first year of operation. The store opened without a website, only leveraging a cookie-cutter web presence on Grub Hub, primarily for intake of online orders. Owners, Michal and Petra desired their own unique website, primarily as extension of their already well-received local business.
We engulfed the website in high-quality, colorful photos of food prepared at the restaurant in order to convey the variety and quality offered. It was also critical to design the website within the color scheme and style of the actual restaurant, leveraging earthy and yellowish hues and such textures as reclaimed wood. The experience from brick-and-mortar to online absolutely had to be seamless for the user. The entire menu was digitized including pricing, and laid out simply with a javascript driven menu that updates as you click on both desktop and mobile.
Social media was given key focus by pulling in the restaurant's live Instagram feed right onto the homepage for cross-pollination on between both mediums. Integration with Grub Hub was also implemented, so that the restaurant can funnel all leads to their own website first, and then to the Grub Hub ordering system from there.
We ensured a mobile-responsive experience so that potential conversions from Google searches were maximized, and the process of placing an order or calling the restaurant from a mobile device was clear and simplistic.
